چکیده

A two-year experiment was conducted to determine the optimal combinations of sowing date and variety maturity using four broomcorn millet (Panicum miliaceum L.) varieties. The results showed that dates had significant effects on leaf net photosynthesis (Pn) chlorophyll fluorescence multivariate analysis variety, date, measuring stage their interactions were in both sites. days from seeding strongly decreased (6–35 d) ratios reproductive growth vegetative increased V2 V4 V1 V3 Baoji all varieties Yulin. highest yield Jinshu 5 Shaanmei 1 Yulin, total average Yulin (2408.3 kg ha−1) higher than (1385.2 reduced by 12.4% 27.2% compared BJ1 15.5%, 3.6% 12.7% YL1 Correlation key meteorological factors which limit different for two Moreover, linear fitting indicated accumulated temperature number (R2 = 0.5306 0.5139) during whole period 0.4323) top three affecting precipitation 0.386) affected Overall, this study determined with a short should have delayed sowing, while those longer are suitable early semi-arid area.

Molecular Basis of the Waxy Endosperm Starch Phenotype in Broomcorn Millet (Panicum miliaceum L.)

Waxy varieties of the tetraploid cereal broomcorn millet (Panicum miliaceum L.) have endosperm starch granules lacking detectable amylose. This study investigated the basis of this phenotype using molecular and biochemical methods. Iodine staining of starch granules in 72 plants from 38 landrace accessions found 58 nonwaxy and 14 waxy phenotype plants. All waxy types were in plants from Chinese...

Genetic diversity and phylogeography of broomcorn millet (Panicum miliaceum L.) across Eurasia

Broomcorn millet (Panicum miliaceum L.) is one of the world's oldest cultivated cereals, with several lines of recent evidence indicating that it was grown in northern China from at least 10,000 cal bp. Additionally, a cluster of archaeobotanical records of P. miliaceum dated to at least 7000 cal bp exists in eastern Europe. These two centres of early records could either represent independent ...

Genetic Diversity and Population Structure of Broomcorn Millet (Panicum miliaceum L.) Cultivars and Landraces in China Based on Microsatellite Markers.

Broomcorn millet (Panicum miliaceum L.), one of the first domesticated crops, has been grown in Northern China for at least 10,000 years. The species is presently a minor crop, and evaluation of its genetic diversity has been very limited. In this study, we analyzed the genetic diversity of 88 accessions of broomcorn millet collected from various provinces of China. Amplification with 67 simple...

Reticulate evolution in Panicum (Poaceae): the origin of tetraploid broomcorn millet, P. miliaceum

Panicum miliaceum (broomcorn millet) is a tetraploid cereal, which was among the first domesticated crops, but is now a minor crop despite its high water use efficiency. The ancestors of this species have not been determined; we aimed to identify likely candidates within the genus, where phylogenies are poorly resolved. Nuclear and chloroplast DNA sequences from P. miliaceum and a range of dipl...
